About the event
This powerful film features interviews with senior Black residents who reflect on their personal family histories: moving to Beacon during the Great Migration, job opportunities with the rise of the industrial economy, the Civil Rights era, urban renewal's destruction and displacement, and the current- day challenges of housing affordability.
We're proud to co-host this screening because ensuring that people have affordable, safe places to live is a key part of the fight for a better future. And we can't make that better world without understanding the history that got us here.
Come to this screening to learn more about where we came from, as well as some solutions to the housing crisis that affects so many of us today. Plus, enjoy free refreshments at the reception with your neighbors!
